Super-Silenced Marine Generators    7.5–18.5 kVA    Isuzu-Powered    Leisure & Commercial

Super-silenced marine generators.

Whisper-quiet power for leisure and light commercial vessels — engineered by Zenith Engineering, available in New Zealand through Shaw Diesels.

The Vortum range delivers 7.5 to 18.5 kVA of super-silenced marine generation, built around genuine Isuzu engines and MeccAlte alternators inside a purpose-built sound-attenuated cabinet. At full load, the largest model produces just 57 dB at seven metres — quieter than a normal conversation. As an authorised Isuzu Power Solutions dealer, Shaw Diesels provides the local sales, installation, parts and service support to keep your Vortum running season after season.

Quiet power with serious performance.

The Vortum generator is enclosed in a purpose-built sound-attenuated cabinet, precision-engineered for silence without compromising airflow or performance.

At the heart of every Vortum generator is an Isuzu engine paired with a MeccAlte alternator and a Zenith Engineering custom-built marine cooling package.

The result is a generator system that is exceptionally reliable, remarkably quiet, and built to handle the demands of the marine environment.

It’s quieter than a normal conversation.

Under full load, the Vortum V18.5 produces just 57 dB at seven metres.

That’s quieter than a typical conversation which sits around 60 dB. So you’ll barely know it’s running.

This level of silence is achieved through a combination of 2mm powder-coated aluminium construction, 32mm acoustic foam with embedded rubber wavebar, and a directional baffle airflow design that eliminates the noise-leaking vents found on conventional marine generators.

Precision-engineered for silence and durability.

Every detail of the Vortum range has been designed with performance, noise reduction and marine durability in mind.

Standard across all three models:

  • 2mm powder-coated aluminium cabinet — lightweight, corrosion-resistant, built for the marine environment
  • 32mm acoustic foam with 2mm rubber wavebar — premium insulation for maximum sound absorption
  • Directional baffle airflow design — eliminates noise-leaking vents while maintaining optimal cooling
  • Genuine Isuzu engines — naturally aspirated, Tier 4 compliant, proven marine reliability
  • MeccAlte alternators (Italy) — AVR-controlled, with anti-condensation heaters and double-dipped windings
  • DSE 4520 MKII control panel — cabinet-mounted as standard, with optional helm-mount available
  • Fully marinised cooling with wet exhaust system
  • Interchangeable wet exhaust outlet on either end for flexible installation
  • Multiple syphon break port locations to suit a range of vessel configurations
  • 230V / 50Hz / single phase — standard New Zealand power output

Proven performance in even the harshest conditions.

Vortum is built by Zenith Engineering — a company that has been building marine generators since 1945.

Since opening their Brisbane workshop in 1945, Zenith Engineering has earned a reputation for reliability, performance and trust. Their Isuzu-powered generators have been proven in some of the harshest marine environments, where commercial operators rely on equipment that performs faultlessly for extended periods.

Now owners of leisure and light commercial craft can benefit from the same level of quality that commercial operators depend on.
